Our History
A-1 was founded with a simple goal: to become a premier fleet automotive service center built on quality workmanship and the belief that every vehicle should leave better than it arrived. As our fleet customers began looking for cleaner, more efficient transportation solutions, we took a leap into the emerging alternative fuel industry. That decision transformed our business and set A-1 on a path that would shape not only our future, but also the fleets and communities we serve. More than 35 years later, we remain a family-owned company driven by the same commitment to quality, innovation, and doing right by our customers.

Meet Our Leaders
Mark Gilio
President and Chairman
Mark began his career in the alternative fuel industry in the early 1980s, engineering his first fuel system and launching a decades-long legacy of innovation. With deep expertise in electrical and mechanical engineering, he has led A-1 in developing hundreds of advanced fuel systems across multiple fuel types. For over 25 years, Mark has been recognized as a pioneer in the field and a driving force in expanding the adoption of clean fuel technologies.
Joshua Gilio
Chief Executive Officer
Over the past 15+ years at A-1, Josh has held nearly every role in the company, gaining a deep understanding of operations and leadership. He played a key role in achieving Ford QVM certification, launching the Elkhart, IN facility, and establishing A-1’s kitting department. Today, Josh oversees all manufacturing, procurement, logistics, quality control, and service operations, bringing a strategic edge to the company’s growth.
Kevin Gilio
Chief Revenue & Financial Officer
Kevin joined A-1 in 2021, bringing with him over seven years of experience in financial services with UBS and Comerica Bank, where he served as Vice President in middle market lending. He now oversees all sales and financial operations at A-1, leveraging his background in finance, brand growth, and strategic partnerships. Kevin also serves as Treasurer on the boards of San Joaquin Valley Clean Cities Coalition and Project Clean Air.
Sonny Leal
Director of Service & Warranty
Sonny is an ASE master technician with a certification in alternative fuels. Sonny is also CSA certified and a certified fuel system inspector. Sonny has over 30 years of experience in the automotive repair industry and 20+ years of experience with alternative fuel vehicles. Sonny oversees all warranty, training, and technical support operations at A-1.
